I can’t seem to find the location of the virus chest or the history of warnings. I am really frustrated right now that something so simple has become a mammoth task. Never in my life have i ever previously needed to post on a forum asking how to view the virus vault or past history log for warning because I’ve always been able to find it easily, maybe I’m going blind but I just can’t find the dam thing.
I installed avast free version 7.0.1474 onto my windows 7 desktop. Today I got some warning about firefox but before i got a chance to view the entire name of the infection or the location the warning box closed. So i tried to find out the location of the infection to figure out of it was a false positive or if it was a keygen or whatever it was but all i could find was some flash graph showing me the number of infections but no name, no location and no other detail. =(
All I want is to open a box where it shows me the location of all found infections such as “C:\Program Files.…” and the name of the infection along with an option to restore it if i find it was wrongly removed. Am I asking for too much?
Also while I am here how do i setup avast so it prompts me first on all found infections instead of automatically removing it? Back in the old days virus programs used to ask you first “repair, remove, quarantine, ignore” , that’s all I want :-\
the virus chest is found under the maintenance tab…
the warning pop ups have a pin in top right corner…click that to make it stay on screen
if you have not rebooted…right click avast tray icon and show last pop up
Just for kicks, have a look here at the several .jpegs below:
Please note that all settings shown here are the default settings. Anything different from this means they may have been changed by you or another user.
For example, in File System Shield, default is quarantine, then Delete (should be Ignore, oops!) in case it is a false positive and is a needed and necessary system file. You get here by the same process as before, except you click ‘Expert Settings’ in File System Shield. If you are the admin, there is an option to password protect this and other settings within Avast!, also found in Settings, from being changed by anyone else other than you, the admin. Use this password protection in case that is what happened here, but be sure to write that password down and keep it in a safe and secure location if needed in the future.
