I can't receive the Avast Recovery password on my secondary number?

Hi, I tried to put a new SIM card in my Samsung Galaxy S3. But I got a message saying that the phone was missing or stolen. It asked for my Avast PIN but I had forgotten it. It prompted me to send the recovery password to my secondary number and I did. Several times. Unfortunately, my secondary number doesn’t seem to be receiving the recovery password. Instead, an email was sent to the e-mail address I used to open my Avast Account. The email confirmed a change in the IEMS number but the phone number remained the same. What’s worse, even when I try to put back the old SIM card, which has been in the phone for months, Avast still insists the phone is missing or stolen and asks for an Avast PIN. What should I do? Please help.

Thanks a lot for the advice. But the problem is that my secondary number, which used to receive the recovery Avast PIN SMS 2-3 months ago, now doesn’t receive anything. So, despite sending several recovery PIN SMSs from my locked number, my secondary number shows me no messages received. What could have changed to make my secondary number non-receptive and how do I get around this?

Use the option in your avast! account.

Thanks once again. Just one last question: What if I’m one of those tech-challenged morons who didn’t pair his application with his Avast account? Would there be some alternative solution to my problem that doesn’t involve getting my recovery PIN via the secondary number or Avast account?

  1. You’re welcome.
  2. No.

So, I should basically just throw away the phone? I can’t, say, physically visit a Samsung dealership or an Avast Help Centre to help me unlock the phone?

No, you still can reset it.

Alright! Thanks a lot, man. So, to reset it, do I go to a Samsung dealership or an Avast shop? Who can help me do the reset?

I know it’s a bit belated but thanks a lot for everything. I performed a hard reset as you advised and it worked. I owe you one.

You’re welcome.
