i registered to avast and when i try to scan, or open avast from the desktop it gives me the following message:
The system cannot open the device or file specified
“avast! Spalsh Screen” cannot load configuration
and then another message that says:
The system cannot open the device or file specified
“avast! Simple User Interface” cannot load configuration
pls help me

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
If that doesn’t work try, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.
It would probably be best to first download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall.
