i deleted a decompression bomb, and now my web browser doesn't work.

Ok, so after my last scan i got several messages telling me the this or that file is a decompression bomb. being the stupid impulsive noob i am i didnt read up online to find out what a decompression bomb was & i proceeded to manually delete everything in that list by finding it and moving it to the recycle bin and emptying the recycle bin. one of the files i deleted was in a folder called internet logs and was titled something like tvdebug. it was a zip file. and now suddenly neither internet explorer 8, nor mozilla firefox will open any web pages. my wireless connection is on strong and other applications can still access the internet, such as itunes. even so, no regular browsing seems possible.i re-installed firefox, still nothing. restarted the computer, still nothing. what have i done and can i fix it?

Unfortunately posting multiple topics about this won’t resolve the problem any easier.

Once deleted unless they are in the recycle bin (if you manually deleted) then they are history. Unless you happen to have a file recover program, which may be able to recover deleted files, the quicker this is done the more likelihood of success.

Deletion is ‘never’ a good first option you have none left.

This is also a great tool and free. EASEUS Deleted File Recovery V3.0.1 and found here, http://www.easeus-deletedrecovery.com/features.html

thank you for the response. sorry about posting multiple topis, i just wasnt sure where it would be seen first, so i put it in more than one place. at any rate, the problem has been fixed. turns out it was not related to the file i deleted. i also found out that the file i deleted was associated with another program that i had uninstalled. so all is well now.

You’re welcome.

What was it that was stopping you use your browser then ?
