I do not get the avast! VPS update sounds on my Windows 7 system.

I have tried to un-install then run the avast! clean tool in VGA mode but still no notifications of the definitions update.

I’ll now try a Repair to see if that fixes the problem.

You don’t happen to have Silent/Gaming mode enabled ?

Though that should also stop the pop-ups.

I do not have that set.

I use the basic default settings.

My XP Pro system works fine though.

Have there been any recent driver updates prior to the loss of avast sounds ? is it only the avast update voice not working - are other system sounds working ?

Also check your sound files. I belive in W 7 are located in :

C:\Program Data\AVAST Software\Avast\sound

Double click them. See if they play.

I can play my music.

I do not have C:\Program Data\Avast Software\sound

Sorry. I just found out that Avast! sounds in W7 are under Program files. At least you have the files and they work. I know it does nothing in your case,… :cry:

Are you running the windows 8 beta ???

Not according to his signature both using avast 7, though the signature could be out of date.
