after running Avast - the mail shield showed that I had 2 infected files - but when I search for them on the computer I cannot find them. After reading a lot of the documentation - I saw that if I go to reports I should be able to move the files to the virus chest by clicking on the “virus chest” icon at the bottom of the report – but there is no such icon. Not sure what is my next step.
It seems to me the infection is in one 9or more) of your mails.
Deleting the mail with the attached trojan should solve things.
I was wondering about that - I thought that might be a solution – but how can I tell if the Virus is actually on my computer? the strange thing is the 2 infected emails were sent “from” me to me. I did run 2 other virus/malware programs and they did not find any evidence of the virus/malware on my computer.
thanks for you suggestion.
It isn’t hard to make it look like the mail came from your email account.
But that is only the senders address.
If you look at the headers of the mail, you would see that it comes from a different address.
If you can use webmail to delete the message(s).
Everything should be fine after you have deleted them.
thanks, I’ll get my husband to look at the headers of the 2 emails and see if he can figure out where they are coming from. I don’t like that someone has access to spoof my email - I guess maybe I need to change my password?
Locky is a ransomware Trojan, you need to remove it
It can be the fake locky that is going around at the moment.

thanks for all the responses – one of you mentioned that Locky is malware and I need to get rid of it – I’ve run my 4 anti-virus/anti-malware programs and only Avast even recognized it — so another suggestions to get rid of it would be welcome…preferably free because I’m broke right now - LOL.
thanks again to all of you experts for replying to my email – this is the first time ever that I’ve ever had malware or a virus and I’ve been running macs back to the Apple IIs.
