I got a backdoor virus, it won't go away

No it won’t harm as all MBAM did was kill the registry entry which windows then re-created ;D

Hi essexboy,

GData scans with a BitDefender scanner while their other engine has Alwil software running.
Every scanner can experience FPs, the BitDefender Trojan.FakeAlert.5 was repaired via an update by the Romanian av solution and they apologized for that because it could render Windows unstable, which is bad as it is. But no av maker does this for the fun of it, about that I am totally certain, humans can err, developers of av software too.
Just for these issues we have a virus and worms and FPs section on this web forum, So never take a detection for granted, check online and here.
When an FP gets at essential system files and is able to ruin an OS then users can be in a predicament. This was never the case here, but we have to get less FPs period,

Thank you both for the info.

BitDefender did find the “Trojan.FakeAlert.5” FP “virus” when I scanned with it, would it have hurt my computer by getting rid of a important OS file? Or is it safe? From what I heard the BitDefender “virus” had some pretty bad outcomes. (Like you said it could render Windows unstable")

When you scan with BitDefender it didn’t give me a option to quarantine the FP “virus” like Avast and MBAM does.
