And when i searcht the file ti appeard an Virus/Worm Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}. And when i clicted “delete” ti continued scaning until end and a window appered saying “The operation is not supported for this type of archive”. And the virus dont delete and when i chose “Move to chest” the same thing apperes.
What shuld i do can i just delete the file or do something else.
HElP Pleas !!!
Effectively avast can’t extract it from within the .rar file and put it back together (possibly if there are multiple levels of compression) without possibly corrupting it and making it useless.
You could choose to delete the complete .rar file, but avast won’t do that automatically as it isn’t the complete .rar that is infected.
You could also try to extract the infected file manually, you would have to a) pause the standard shield and b) be very cautious not to execute the suspect file. Once extracted resume the Standard Shield, you could check the detection, see below.
Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive, e.g. C:\Suspect. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest or other location to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.
Check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
