I have files in my Virus Chest

Hello everybody!
I’m new to this forum so be gentle with me
I ran my Avast! scan this AM and got 4!! Virus sirens. I’ve NEVER had that happen b4. Three of them were Win32: Trojan-gen.{UPX} and one was Win32:Small-DLO[Trj]
I sent them off to Avast! to be analyzed, it’s ok to leave them in the Chest, right ?

Welcome to the Forum.
That’s the place to put them. From there, you can restore them should
they turn out to be false positives or, delete them once your sure they shouldn’t be
on your system.
Since you didn’t give us the name or path of the viruses, there isn’t any way
for us to advise you.

You have done the right thing, ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.

There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.

There should be no need to send them for analysis unless you identify they aren’t good detections.

You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner Or Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. You can’t do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.

If it is indeed a false positive, add it to the exclusions lists (Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced and Program Settings, Exclusions) and periodically check it (scan it in the chest), there should still be a copy in the chest even though you restored it to the original location. When it is no longer detected then you can also remove it from the Standard Shield and Program Settings, exclusions.
