I have been a user for about 3 years now, but now i have had enough. You installed the safe zone browser WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!! And now you pieces of crap have caused my computer to crash 5 times! I cannot use it with avast installed and the internet active. What the fuck is the program doing in the background??? I have decided to use malwarebytes instead. It takes stuff avast doesnt get but i do not have a shield… but i have had enough.
MWB detected a load of malware on an old computer you did not. I do not gi e a shit about it because i cannot connect to the wifi because it will trigger the 6th crash - today
mwb will protect me untill i find a new AV, but i cannot take avast any more. It has become top much about profit. Pop ups everywhere…
The crash is caused by the desktop(win 8.1) stopping and then not rebooting. Pnly a blue screen and maybe an open program. It forces me to reboot! It was triggered by me opening avast. Then attempting to uninstall avast safe zone browser. The last attempt caused the first crash. If avast can sync it does the automatic on starting the computer scan. I have attempted to turn off the wifi and i managed eventually. That is the reason i cant take it any more
if able to follow instructions here >> https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
scroll down to second picture > Farbar Recovery Scan Tool < run as instructed and attach the two diagnostic logs
see below the box you write in > Attachments and other options
The SafeZone browsers was installed with your permission.
Sure, avast could and should i.m.o. have told upfront that it would be installed but they didn’t.
In the latest version people have to choice to install it or not.
MBam is not even close to a av.
It only scans executables, no other files, no processes, no mail, no data traffic etc.
This is clearly explained on their website.
I did not get any “Do you want to install Safe ZOne browser” at any point. I updated to the newest software version and it was just there. As of AV, I have installed herdProtect as it utilizes 63 AV databases at once. It detected 4 .dll files Avast didn’t . MBam is not an AV, I am highly aware. It does scan other files than .exe’s.
The cause of the crash is overloading the computer. I have not had a single crash since I uninstalled avast. Using herdProtect I can still scan with the avast AV database(download at herdprotect.com (saw it on a test on a legit site from my country))
I will not download anything as I am not secure due to a lack of real time protection(unless reason security core’s real time protection works 100%)
As I said, it has changed in the latest version.
That means if you would install the latest version you will (or at least should) be asked if you want to install the SafeZone Browser or not.
Downloading Farbar is safe.
It comes without anything bundled.
Ofcourse it is up to you if you want us to help trouble shooting/solving the problem or not.
My avast was the newest. It was forced installed and I am fucking pissed about that.
The troubleshooting is not something I want to do because I have to download something and it isn’t a lot to troubleshoot that avast relied too much on threads and used up all the ram and GPU power. I pressed CTRL-alt-delete on one of the crashes(rebooting gives about 30 secounds non-problematic space) and I saw that avast used an insane amount of ram. I have never seen anything use as much.
Why are you defending bad decisions done by avast! team? SafeZone Browser launch was a disaster. That’s a fact, even avast! team acknowledged it. And the response to it was equally poor. Instead of explaining what it is and the reason behind the decision with apology, I don’t remember anything at all. Of course people are mad, they don’t know what exactly it is and in the end it looks like some sort of crapware that usually gets auto installed with other shady apps… They really need to start working better and think things through more before they serve them to the public. Everything feels rushed and that reflects in the quality of the product and the happiness of the users.
That explanation came for too damn late in the day way after all of the anger of it being forced on the user by a silent update.
This should never have happened this way, it should have been introduced first, either a popup with an option to install it. Or for it to be introduced in a normal Program update, but users should still have been notified of a new feature being added to the free version.
