I Have Seen The Light!

I have been having an “entertaining” conversation on the COMODO forum…

It got to the point where Matousec, which I hadn’t heard of until it was mentioned in that thread, brought me to the avast! forums.

Those guys hold up that Matousec test like a golden specter.

Thank you for educating me on just how ridiculous Matousec is.

I have been using avast! on my Android so I decided to install the latest version on my Windows 7 64-bit SP1 PC. I had ran a full scan earlier with CIS and it found no problems. After installing avast!, I ran a full scan while I was away from home. When I returned, it had found 6 malware items (attached photo).

Hi Buford T. Justice,

You must keep in mind that Comodo specializes in it’s firewall.

I use avast anti-virus in conjunction with Comodo FW.

and the 6 item found.......what are they ?

They were old .eml Windows Live Mail storage files I had forgotten I even had.

The avast! forums looks awesome compared to Comodo’s! ;D

Chocholo does a good job with the css, etc.!

They locked ur topic ::slight_smile:

How do you like avast? Is the GUI better than Comodo?

I guess they do not deal well with criticism either from me or from sources like…

They instead get all pissy when Matousec is criticized and questions of security and detection are raised. I think somewhere in that thread it was mentioned CIS isn’t even designed to remove malware but rather to prevent it. Prevention is great, but detection and removal are also important if something gets through IMO.

The whole point of that entire thread was why CIS didn’t test well in the…

VB100

AV-TEST

Checkmark

I really like CIS though despite all of this. I was trying to raise the bar for CIS getting into and passing real tests.

I also like avast! I like the GUI of CIS slightly better. I guess I will just run both, lol.
