I have Un Scheduled Scans Starting at odd times that I haven’t set.
Shows “Scheduled Scan” when it pops up. I checked in ALL the settings under scan that has scan settings for all scans for schedules I set and ones I don’t have on and don’t see any that are from mine when they start. My clock is set right and bios. I am running Win8 64 bit. I have done my updates for programs and all.
Any Ideas?

Not knowing which version of avast all I can do is venture a guess.
If you are using v8.0 then one of the scans is selected to be your default scan.
This is by default the quick scan unless you have selected a different one.
If I am wrong you might try a repair Control Panel>Uninstall>double click “avast”>click “repair”>reboot

I am running version 8.0.1483 and the unscheduled scans are of two different one that I have set that are off in time. I set them for 6am and then go off around after like 12pm or 2pm or 4pm and none do the same every week looking at the log and they are of quick scan and full scan which quick scan wasn’t set to run at all. I went in and now just have full scan scheduled for 5am and do have it set to Mon, Wed, Fri. I did see the default scan was set to quick so changed it to full. I also deleted all the leftover custom scans I had done.

Did you try a repair? ???

I am having similar problems with scheduling. I schedule the scan for 3am and the only time it comes on is when i open my laptop to use in the morning which causes my computer to drag when i need to use it. i have asked tech support and they gave me the same old “uninstall and reinstall” and nothing changed. I have checked all my settings to wake up my machine when its sleeping and that didn’t do anything either. I am so frustrated that I will not be renewing my avast license(s) this time.

Avast designed a beautiful webpage that in my experience is absolutely useless when you want to find information or change settings.

Tech support doesn’t seem all that interested in my situation but I am sure their competitors are interested in my business!

Since you don’t mention your operating system or scheduled scan settings, it is hard to hazard a guess as to why ?

There is a setting in the scheduled scan not to scan if running on batteries.

The other issue on OS, win8 by all accounts does a strange sort of shutdown (fast shutdown) which is kind of like hibernate and I don’t know if A) that is what happens when the laptop is closed or B) the hibernate is something different to the usual sleep, which avast is meant to be able to wake up to do the scan.
