…avast! 4 Home because my previous program decided that since I upgraded my hard drive to a larger one I am now trying to use a single-license program on more than one machine and and refused to work. Rather than futz around with either buying it again or trying to reload it, I did a Dogpile search and found the avast! site.
Welcome to the forum - glad you found us.
Feel free to post any questions you have.
EPrudho, just for your further advice, maybe, maybe, avast will give you the same message if you ‘copy’ your HDD and ‘restore’ in into another.
This is an antipiracy feature. Don’t worry, if you’re using avast for home and non-commercial usage, just uninstall it, install again and register.
By the way, did you register your avast home version and received the key?
Welcome 8)
Hi, EPrudho, welcome to the forums.
Stick around and browse the forums, especially the sticky topics at the top of each of the forums. They provide a wealth of information to help you get the best from avast. Not to forget the avast help file also.
did you register your avast home version and received the key?
Yes, I did and everything seems to be working so far.
What avast version are you using?
Don’t forget to upgrade it as 4.7.936 has, right now, some troubles. If you need TODAY another version, use an old one from here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
4.7892 would be good 8)
Will the older version overwrite 936?
Most probably you’ll mess the situation.
Uninstall the 936 through Control Panel before.
Boot.
Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
Boot.
Install again the ‘old’ version.
Hi :
Dogpile is an Adware, possibly Spyware program, that some of us "Regular" helpers have
recommended AGAINST using; if interested, use the "search" button at the top of the
Forum to read those threads/messages .
