I need help getting rid of the ADW_SCANPORTAL.A virus that I currently have in my PC. I found some info on it, copy and paste the URL (below) to read it.

Ad-aware & spybot might help, otherwise follow trendmicro’s instructions…

Personally, I recommend either Norton, or McAfee virus removal software. I did some testing back in the day and those were the only two that SUCESSFULLY removed all the viruses that were in my PC. So… in conclusion… Yeah. Use those. 8)

ADW_SCANPORTAL.A Adware - mwsvm.exe is adware. Adware renders pop-ups with ads onto your system or will change your standard homepage or search engine settings into afraudulous website website. The extra traffic it generates slows down your system and internet connection. This program spies on your Internet/surfing habits and sends this information without you knowing it to maker of the software.

I can’t tell if WTF is suggesting NOrton and McAfee TOOLS or their AV programs/ suites
Their Tools are handy if appropriate
however I do not think that they will work in this case
From his one other post on the forum, he’s recommending the AV programs, although quite why anybody would sign up to the avast! forum and then post spam for Norton and McAfee on a four year old thread is beyond me.
