I need help Please

Hello,
I am new to avast, I am not as computer literate as many on this site. So I am open to suggestions. Please be very discriptive when trying to help me with my problem. Thanks. Ok, now to the problem, I have a small blinking (looks like a yield sign) at the bottom right side of my computer. When I leave my computer online it will pull up many pages of spyware, malware, etc advertisements. I have run avast many times and it has not resolved my problem. Can someone help me solve this problem? I am sure I must not be doing something right because avast has cured all my problems until I ran into this problem. Please help. I just downloaded the 4.7 version less than 1 week ago, so I assume I am running the latest version. Thank You.

Hi JeffSmith,

Sounds like a scam program: a piece of spyware that puts an icon in the notification area to tel you that you have spyware and asks for money to remove it.

You need to run AVG Anti-Spyware, Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. I’d also recommend RogueRemover, which is designed to deal with these things.

Don’t forget to update before scanning.

Thanks FreewheelinFrank,
I will try this now.

 Hi Jeff :

As Frank said, you have a very bad piece of SPYWARE on your computer, which are best handled
by programs that "specialize" in spyware, such as AVG Antispyware, Ad-Aware Personal and/or
the FREE version of "SUPERantispyware" from www.superantispyware.com . Spybot's quality has
fallen in recent months. An antiVIRUS program is not "geared" to handle SPYWARE problems.

Most likely you should also have a software, 3rd party firewall also. To make further
recommendations, we need to know the NAME of your Operating System and the amount of
 RAM would be helpful .

I’ve also found A squared good for killing trojans/spyare: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ you might want to consider a resident antispyware shield, such as Windows Defender. I use SpywareTerminator and find it very good.
Ditto the thoughts on the firewall. One that blocks outbound is a good idea, the inbuilt XP blocks only inbound AFAIK).
