I Need Help to Permanantly Get Rid of The 80000000.@ Win32:Malware-gen virus

My computer has recently been infected by a 80000000.@ Win32:Malware-gen. This virus keeps being blocked and moved to the chest by avast every 2 to 3 minutes. Can someone PLEASE help me permanently get rid of this menace?!? I’ve looked this virus up and I know I will require much assistance to make my computer completely clean again.

This needs further analysis by a malware removal specialist:
Go to this topic http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0 for information on Logs to assist in cleaning malware.
Use the information about getting and using the tools and attach the logs here, not in the LOGS topic.

@ Raithwal,

We are awaiting your logs. Do you need assistance in getting them or understanding the instructions?

Remember to attach the logs to your next post (do not cut and paste them). Thank you.

I completed the Malwarebytes step, here’s the scan log.

Thank you. Please continue with your other logs.

After this, please do not make any changes to your machine, do not sync anything to it, and try not to use it until one our malware removal experts comes to assist.

MBAM did quarantine a rootkit, but your other logs will give us more information. Thank you.

I’ve completed the OTL step here is the extras log but The OTL.txt is too large to attach. Do I copy and paste its contents?

No…attach the file like you did the others.

Don’t forget the aswMBR log.

When I try to attach the OTL.txt I get an error message upon posting saying that the file is too large.

The aswMBR step has been completed, here is the scan log.

NVM about the OTL.txt file being too large, I can attach it now. here it is.

Here you go

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
[*]Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

THEN

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here

[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/NSIS_extraction.png

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

I’ve run the fix and done the subsequent quick scan on reboot. Here are the logs.

The alerts should now have ceased and Combofix will do the final tidy up ;D

Combofix has finished cleaning up, here’s the log. If this means my computer is pure again then, A THOUSANDS THANKS! ;D ;D ;D
You’ve saved the integrity of one of the most precious of my electronic belongings!

No more threats are being found by avast, but that brings me to one last question. Is it ok to delete the previously blocked and chested duplicate 80000000.@ Win32:Malware-gens from the avast virus chest as well as the one rootkit that Malwarebyes has in its quarantine? The avast chest has over 2 dozen of the 80000000.@ Win32:Malware-gens.

Oh forgot to add one detail, combofix displayed a message upon reboot after its scan saying not to run any programs until it finished. A startup program ran while combo fix was making it’s report. Does that change anything?

Yep you can empty the quarantine, the running file would not be a problem

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

[*]Select folder options (Appearance > Folder options in category view)
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.
