I recently bought AVAST4 PRODESSIONAL EDITION through the internet, and I got an email back telling about the product and my password and everything, but I have no idea what I have to do to install it, the emial doesn’t come with anaything attached, where do I get the program? Please help me.

Firstly it is not a good idea to post your e-mail address ( if that is your real one ) here openly or anywhere on the Net . In fact it’s dangerous for a few reasons , Spam , Malware intrusion via the Address , … spybots , ???

The thing is, I had an older version of Avast and when i turned on my computer last moth it said I needed to update avast because it had expired. I bought avast 4 professional edition from a site named share-it I think, and now I downloaded avast 4 from the site ABRAXAS gave me in his reply but I don’t think it work because when I truned n my computer today it still said I needed to update avast, and when I was installing it it didn’t ask for my license key or my password…what can I do? did I download and older verssion maybe? was I ripped off when I bought Avast 4 professional edition? Please help me 
Avast will not ask you for a registration key. you must insert it. Right click the “a” icon next to the clock. Click about avast. On the page that pops up will be a licence key button. click that button. Next copy the key you got by email and paste it in the box.
Avast will want to up date the vps data base regaurdless of how new of a copy you have. The vps will be behind a few updates

You should uninstall the old or add the new license key as oldman said.

No, for sure you need to have the latest version, not an old one. I suggest an installation from the scratch:

You may want to change your screen name in your user profile as it displays your email address and if anyone quotes one of your posts then your email address will be displayed on the post. There are email address harvester bots that trawl the internet looking for email addresses to add to spam lists. Since the avast forums are available publicly these harvesters could trawl the pages.
