O.k I have a New PC it is Dell Dimension 9200 with Vista Home and avast 4.7 on it. My question is I just recently did some scans and 4 viruses showed up in Virus chest the viruses are as follows Win32:Agent-PBL [trJ], HTML:IFrame-J[Expl], and VBS:Malware-gen . How do I get rid of these viruses??? Should I delete them from virus chest?? Please help me out her I’m novice!! :‘( ??? :-[ :-\ :’( :-\
Hi Qwester,
You can safely leave them in the Chest (quarantine)- as with any AV or anti-spyware program, this gives you the option of restoring the files if they are actually legitimate files identified as malware by mistake.
To make sure you are immune to exploits like HTML:IFrame-J, scan for out-of-date and insecure software using Secunia Software Inspector and update any vulnerable software.
FreewheelingFrank thanks for the quick response so I will take your word for it to not delete the viruses but leave them quarrantined in virus chest. I did the Secuna software inspector and it says my system is o.k and has gotten all green check marks but still I’m worried. It’s a brand new pc is it suppose to be so vunerable already??
“Brand new” computers are often vulnerable because manufacturers can use a disk image that is weeks or months old and missing updates, but in your case that doesn’t appear to be so.
Keep using avast! and run the Secunia scan every few weeks and update any software that needs updating to keep safe.
