I need to revert to the free version of Avast!

 I’m telling the world (and you dear fellow forum members) that I’m now so broke I need to cancel my Home Professional version and revert to the free one.

Last year I decided I could afford HomePro but my home biz has failed and I cant afford to pay again. I love Avast and still use the free version on my laptop.

HomePro is on my PC & my sub is due soon. I use XP. Is it as simple as uninstalling HomePro & then downloading the freebie from the website? Just thought I should check before taking drastic action ???

Please advise soon.

Thanks M8!

Never did it but I guess you download the uninstall tool from the web site and as follow:
If your current installation of avast stopped working (and/or cannot be uninstalled), we recommend the following procedure to install this new build from scratch:

  1. boot into Windows Safe Mode
  2. use aswClear.exe to remove any existing avast installation (or remaints of it)
  3. boot back into normal Windows mode and use the above mentioned setup packages to install the new version

You don’t have to uninstall anything. Just register on our web pages to receive the free license key for the Home version and enter this key into the program (e.g. using the blue tray icon / About avast! / License key…).
When you enter the Home key, avast! Professional will turn itself into avast! Home.
