i remember a avast! cleaner

some of my friend could use that!

in the pass i download it and taken it to them to see what virus they may have in their system, that other anti-virus software may have over look, many time they switch to avast! totally

a lot of time it finds 200-5000 virus in their system range from Trojan horse to worms and after it clean their system of it

they were hook on Avast! totally

i have SD card 2Gb on my cell-phone, i connect to their system as like an USB-SD card thou a cable connection! then drop the Avast cleaner onto their desktop so they can run it and get their system clean. 98% of the time they buy into Avast totally

i guess the avast! cleaner is no more for download or use it to show-off how good avast is now days.

been some time scene i update the avast cleaner to replace the one on my cell-phone, came by to get a new update version of it! but seem it no more

But the Cleaner became a completely obsolete tool…
You can use avast at boot time and other rescue CD’s:

  1. G Data BootCD
  2. Dr. Web
  3. Avira
  4. BitDefender
  5. Kaspersky
  6. F-Secure
  7. Vba32 Rescue

A long time ago there was an avast cleaner, but it was only for a very limited subset of true virus infections and that wasn’t for trojans.

Or was this the avast U3 version you used, which is no longer available as far as I’m aware.

However. there is another avast tool and that was the rather expensive BARTCD which ran a PE windows version from CD and had a full avast AV scan. Fortunately there is a new version of this (Rescue CD) at a more reasonable price $10, I think that is currently only available through avast Distributors/Resellers.

Some cleaner you can run from USB

DrWeb / Norman / Vipre is updated every day and you need to download latest updated version from the website as they dont have an update function

They had that for some time now, not the same as “avast! cleaner” that was freely download to run with out any CD or install software

but i guess avast! cleaner is 100% dead now days sad

It also only cleaned a limited ammount of virus types

There is another locked topic on this (search for “bootable” in thread subject] and I would really love to NOT revive this can of worms.
