i deleted avast 4.8 pro and installed avast internet security 5.0.545,use same proxy setup ,but i can not update 5.0 automataic or mannuly.i am sure that the proxy seting up and authentication is correct,i tried many times ,but failed
The systerm is windws 7
But it works without the proxy
my proxy set up is like this:
HTTP
10.1.44.111 port:80
authority (basic)
account:*****
pwd: ******
At the end of manual update i saw errors: HTTP 000 then,HTTP 407,at last HTTP error (0)
Is there somebody know why? How can i do?
Thanks a lot
OK! But it can not updated by avast itself,
I know i can download the new version of avast through internet and install the new software again
But is there some way easier to update this software from 5.0.545 to 5.0.594??
Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro.
OK! I have downloaded the version of 5.0.594 and installed completely according what you said!
But it still has the same problem, can not update through my proxy just like the old version.
So i think using the latest version can not solve my problem
any idea ?
I am sure that there is nothing wrong with my proxy setting !When i was using avast 4.8,used the same proxy setting ,and at that time
it can update easily! It should be other problem
I am sorry to say that i can not use direct connection (no proxy) in my office,
but i can tell you if i go someplace where i can use direct connection,it works ,it can update easily
The problem is how can i update my avast in office where i only can use proxy connection
Sorry, i work on some ship ,so can not update outside my office for months
And i have already checked my proxy setting with admin ,that is nothing wrong ,absolutely !
GGH I am in the same boat as you (not literally lol)
Ok I had this problem show up again on 2 of my PC’s in my LAN…
It looks as though updating thru proxy on these 2 PC’s is broken…
[I have Endian Firewall (EFW) sitting on my perimeter so port 80 and 445 are blocked, i update thru squid proxy with authentication enabled]
all other PC’s can update thru proxy using auth. But these 2 particular PC’s do not get through Proxy…error http 407 and or 403 All clients are XP SP3.
when I look through my avast setup.log I can see that avast is still trying to connect using port 80 instead of using my proxy…
These 2 particular PC’s have been Repaired using the Windows CD, I am wondering now if that has something to do with it.
The really weird thing is that I opened port 80 on my EFW and then switched avast updates to no proxy and it works…
I cannot leave port 80 open as this will allow all users access to http, I MUST restrict users from the internet by blocking that port…
I have done numerous un-installs re-installs but I keep getting the same problem…tried with newer program versions same thing.
So it looks as though Avast proxy updating may get broken (maybe when you do a Windows repair) and there is no way (that i know of) to fix avast using a proxy once it’s broken.
Avast may need to fix this…
Because that is what your avast log file is reporting (the part that Asyn quoted in his) as your OS version. Now avast should be able to detect and report win7 as it is compatible with win7.
