I guess I’ll just get right down to it. Earlier today my internet started acting up, and in the most visited section of the new tab screen of internet explorer, I found a bunch of clickfraud links that I had never visited. This is consistent with the zeroaccess trojan I had a few months ago. I prefomed several malwarbytes scans, but none of them caught anything. I preformed a system restore and my internet connection is stable again. The clickfraud links are still in the new tab section of internet explorer. I realized after the system restore that I hadn’t set malwarebytes to scan for rootkits, and although I have enabled it to scan for rootkits, the scan still came up with nothing. (Another note, I was informed that the system restore failed, and that nothing was changed on my computer, even though everything that I had installed prior to the date I selected was gone. The error code was 0xc0000022.)
I’ve also scanned with FRST and aswMBR, but I don’t know how to read their logs. I believe whatever was messing with my PC is gone, but I want to be entirely sure.
