I don’t know if I am in the right place for an answer to my problem. I get a message stating my computer is not secure from Avast. When I click on the message to fix it I get another message stating "Unable to start File system shield… Shield unreachable.
How do I fix this problem please.
Hope some-one can help.

@ Kneeltje,
You really should start your own thread instead of hijacking this one. Go to this link, http://forum.avast.com/index.php, scroll down to the Avast Free/Pro/Suite forum and click it, click the New Topic button at the top of the list and post there where I will help you. Thank you.
Is it slow on start or when opening programmes ?
Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems
Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot
If you have Malwarebytes 1.6 or better running on your computer please disable it for the duration of the OTL fix
Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following
:OTL O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - No CLSID value found. [*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
[*]Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.
Thanks for the reply essexboy!
Slow on opening programs and accessing web sites on internet.
I hope I didn’t mess something up. The first run of OTL with the fix I forgot to disable Malwarebytes.
There are no malware indications - so I would next ask you to run a disc chk follwed by a disc defrag
Are you happy how to do that ?
Will do and then report back. thanks
chkdsk and defrag has been run.
fragmentation is 0% and chkdsk didn’t report any errors.
I wonder if I have a possible hardware problem on the system?
That is what I was thinking as your startups are light and the services are about normal
Memory problems would generally cause a lock up or BSOD
The disc is apparently good
All the temps are now empty
Thinking time I feel
Yes, I agree!
OK lets check the drivers out
Download and Install Combofix
Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2
VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
- IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/NSIS_extraction.png
[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Notes:
- Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
- Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
- If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.
Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now
Here is the report.
A few autoruns but that is all - drivers look good
Still slow ?
I think the system is running better than it had been. I suspect possibly my wi-fi adapter may be a problem.
I’ve located a different one that I can borrow and give a try. I’ll let you know what happens.
Thanks so much for all the help!
Once you are happy let me know and I will remove my rubbish
I think I’m OK.
We can remove your rubbish as you call it.
Thanks again for your efforts
