I understood what is VPN used to?

I got a question , I´m t5hinking about buy VPN of Avast , but I was looking at Google and I´d realise that VPN is just to use in Wi Fi networks or acces my coputer data in other place.If it´s right VPN is not for me.
Here´s what I want : a program that don´t let others to take my navigation data , the best example : I don´t want to go to the Microsoft webpage and then every time I acces Facebook it keeps showing Windoes products advertisements.
What is the product to this?Or what shoud I do?

Sounds like you want/need an ad blocking program, I use Adguard but there are other programs or browser add-ons “AdBlock” you can find on the net.

Don't accept cookies. Block pop-ups. Block adds. And best of all, don't use the internet.

Ad blocking and anti-tracking extensions will help.
There are several of each these. AdBlock Plus, Do Not Track Me, Ghostery, Cookie Muncher.
I could go on but you get the idea.
