I am fully aware of the dangers but this is for testing purposes ONLY! How can I disable Avast in msconfig? Every time I uncheck the boxes and click “OK” it checks itself again. Is this Avast’s doing or Windows 7?
The avast self-defence module will protect it.
Even if the avast self-defence module is disabled and you uncheck the avast entry in msconfig, it doesn’t stop avast it only stops the avastUI.exe, the avast User Interface, which is the tray icon and the interaction with the program.
What are you trying to test ?
I wanna see if I can get Dragonica running without Avast active in the background. It uses Gameguard which reacts violently to Avast now, resulting in a BSOD once I start the game.
Can’t you not exclude that in avast, seems much easier as what you try to do now…

Just turn off all shields by right clicking on the orange ball in your system tray and choosing that option. Nothing will be active until you turn it back on.
