Tried Avast Pro and real buggy. Icon for it no graphics-will not let me update-script blocking can not start-uninstalling get errors.
Yes I did try the uninstall program and uninstalled. I tried re installing again and still get the same errors. I was able to install from add/remove. Restarted and Avast file still in program file. When I uninstalled from cleaner it was gone.
Obviously there were still remenants from that uninstall from safe mode program.
I think I am entitled to remove Avast COMPLETELY from my computer!
Can some one send me complete uninstall instructiosn for me.
I want this off and out of my computer!
Please.
insufficient hardware (make sure u make the minimum requirements)
already infected pc
overloaded pc (as in too much programs installed/uninstalled without cleaning up (from which 90% is the programmers faults))
point im making, you sound like your not happy with the product and that you wouldnt want it back ever (thats your right ofcourse) but…
if you try installing it on a clean fresh installed OS your problems (depending on your hardware) would probably not be there anymore
Avast usually uninstalls quite cleanly.
The uninstall utility should take care of all remnants. The time I’ve used it, there was no Avast (nor Alwil) folder left in the program files directory.
Makes me wonder where you got your copy of Avast from?
I had a look at your previous posts. There were a few suggestions made that you haven’t responded to, so it makes it a bit difficult to help.
Apart from having an incorrect (or not genuine eg: cracked/warez/rogue) Avast installation, other problems that could be causing the bugs you’ve been experiencing include (1) Malware already on the computer, (2) the remains of a previous AV, even if it has been uninstalled, this is very common, (3)running Beta software on the computer, which leads me to the next question: What version of Windows 7 do you use?
Without a bit more information from you, I think you might have do perform a manual removal of the leftovers.
There are no specific manual removal instructions.
What that means is that you have to do it yourself.
Search the computer for files belonging to Avast and/or Alwil. Delete those safe to delete.
Search the registry for same. If unfamiliar with the registry, use a good registry cleaner, such as TweakNow, or Eusing.
Make a backup first.
Revo uninstaller might perform these actions for you if there is still a record of Avast in add/remove programs.
If it was a crack or pirate version of Avast (or Windows), all bets are off.
Once again, you don’t exactly make it easy to offer specific help. Hence the vague response.
Everyone has given you excellent instructions here, but I might also suggest that you check for remnants on your PC in the Safe Mode. You don’t mention what version of machine you have, but after backing up your machine, then cleaning it, remember to use a good cleaning tool for deletion (free ones are available online like CCleaner).
Did you have problems with Avast from the start after installation? Do you have other antivirus programs installed on your machine or remnants of older programs that might have conflicted with it. Many AV programs don’t play well together, and some AV and firewall programs don’t play well unless you establish the settings just right, but each machine and user is different. Again, a clean install might be all that is needed, but in your case right now it sounds like you need to rid of all remnants and clean your machine.
Took advice of installing again and removing and cleaning up. Installed Avast Home and looks like working properly-no buggy actions. Does seem to slow down browsing, but happy now. I did not clean up in safe mode though.
Appreciate the advice guys!
Popeye123, glad things are working better for you. Get back to us with YoKenny’s question and we can help you more. As for v.5, you may want to check out the beta forum.
Sorry, I can’t help you with the Windows 7 part. But I’m sure someone else can. Hang in there. Are you running other malware or firewall on your machine? If so, is it real-time or demand (only when you need it)?
@popeye123
I have been running the Avast 5 beta on Windows 7 64 bit for some time now. I haven’t had any issue with it so far, I have installed it and uninstalled it multiple times. The only thing that I am running with it is Malwarebytes and Windows firewall. Just remember that it is still in beta if you decide to try it.
