I was had by start.mysearchdial.com

I started to download Internet Explorer from the web and then noticed that I wasn’t downloading from Microsoft so I cancelled the download. But it was still able to do damage. I don’t get why Avast allowed it to continue.

Anway this virus changes your home page. It somehow deletes the Internet Options screen where you can choose a new home page. And now I can’t download Internet Explorer at all because I keep getting the message that a more recent version already exists on my computer. But there is nothing in my programs that I don’t already recognize. mysearchdial is not there. I used CC cleaner to clean my registry. Not sure what to do now to get this off my computer. I might have to go back to my factory settings.

Hi and welcome.
You could download and run this program: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
I’ve used it, It may help.

Can’t blame avast as internet explorer is not a virus.the damage was probably by a partial download. That’s one reason I always save my downloads.I can rescan them with malwarebytes before I install them on the pc.
Have you tried reverting to a earlier time.

You could also use the Browser Cleanup Tool within avast!

it is not a virus, but a browser Hijacker that comes bundled with other downloads usually classed as PUP = not virus / Possible Unwanted Program

AdwCleaner and or Malwarebytes should clear this…
