I would like to buy Avast but I only get a broken link

My free trial subscription has ended and I want to but the pro. However when I click on the “activate now” I’m linked to a blank IE screen.

For an internet software company not to have a proper working link sure doesn’t give me any confidence in this product. If it weren’t such a pain to delete I probably wouldn’t buy it.

When you reply, click the “Additional Options” link right under the actual text box.

There is an “Attach:” button, click that, find the screenshot, and post it.

I should have cropped the image. It’s a good think I didn’t have an “questionable” websites opened either. I have Chrome as the default but the link opened in IE.

This question is not related to the link problem. You had mentioned in your first post that you wanted to buy Pro. Did you mean Avast Internet Security?

I’m not really sure what the problem is, I know that the link works.

It’s odd that it’s opening IE instead of chrome, if that’s your default.

Does IE work otherwise? Can you browse with it?

Yes it works I have to use IE regularly for work. I had this problem before and went directly to the website but they weren’t offering the same price.

You got me, without actually sitting at the computer and looking through it, I don’t know what else to tell you.

Maybe a repair or something would work. I have no clue.

Because your trial period ended, you now need to purchase AIS (Avast Internet Security). There are several ways to do it. This link and knowledge based article will tell you how to do it. There are 3 buttons to click when installing, you probably want to select the third button for immediate registration. However, remember to save any email you receive as proof of purchase and use this same email for future use.

You probably need to uninstall the current trial version on your machine prior to installing the paid version since this is now expired. Here is the procedure with the set up file:

  1. Save a copy of newest version of Avast (5.0.677) and save it to your HDD:
    AIS – http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe
  2. Download the Avast Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility and save it to your HDD.
  3. Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
  4. Go to Control Panel and uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs if possible and reboot.
  5. If Step 4 fails, boot into Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool.
  6. Reboot.
  7. Install the newest version of Avast AIS and reboot.
  8. Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for AIS.
  9. Update the Avast definitions.
