iadhide5.dll suspicious?

On my brothers laptop there is a file called iadhide5.dll within the temp directory that looks suspicious it also is logged as causing errors with Avast as it displays AAVM and c00005 errors in the log, stranger still is the file that is causing the error is only showing as originating from within my sisters account and not my brothers, any advice on what this file could be?

Temporary folders are often in a user account as opposed to all accounts temp.

Google the file name as it may be a valid usage, http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/iadhide5.dll.html, or http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/iadhide5/75297

this seems to point to backweb updates, some relating to f-secure, or Kodak EasyShare’s BackWeb utility, has your brother ever had these installed ?

If f-secure was/is on the system then it may well be a protected file.

He has never had any of those on is laptop although I have since sent it to virustotal and it reported it was clean, however it still causes errors for Avast as it lists references to this file in its logs

Because it appears clean and reference to it being used to update it may well have been used by another application.

Since it is in a temp location I would suggest you clear all temporary data, if it isn’t there it won’t be scanned and won’t raise the error.

clearing the temp directory hasnt removed it but that could be because of its placement within the folder, I will have to try running other antispyware programs just to be doubley sure. Why would it cause Avast errors though?
