IE 8 opening very slowly [SOLVED]

Solved, it seems to be a conflict with Trusteer Rapport. Stoppping that application fixed the problem.

Hi all.

I have an issue on a new Win7 64 install where IE 8 takes about 10-15 seconds to open.

This issue only affects the 32-bit IE, 64-bit IE loads instantly.

I have tried:
disabling WeRep add-on in IE = IE slow load:
Reinstalling Avast = IE slow load:
Disable all shields = IE FAST
Re-enble all shields = IE slow load

Disable File System Shield = IE FAST
…and enable file shield = IE slow again.

So the problem would seem to be the mail shield conflicting with 32-bit IE 8.

Any one got any ideas? I guess I should file a bug report.

Avast = 6.0.1000
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600

Hi SiB,
I’ve got a similar problem with opening ie9/firefox/and google chrome
they all take a painfuly long time to open with Avast6 installed when
i disable Avast they open lightening fast again.
I started a thread about it a couple of days ago,but have’nt got a fix yet.
I also have trusteer rapport installed.When you say SOLVED do you mean trusteer
was conflicting with Avast and disabling trusteer fixes the problem.Because i
tried disabling trusteer and it did’nt make any difference.

UPDATE!
Yeah your right SiB,i tried turning trusteer off and on a couple
of times again and what do you know.Trusteer enabled browsers opening
deathly slow trusteer disabled browsers opening lightening fast again.
I can’t thank you enough for sussing this out,i’ve been pulling
my hair out for about a week trying to fix it.
So i suppose it’s bye bye trusteer.

Yeah I have stopped Trusteer for now, and have filed a bug report with Avast. Since previous versions of Avast were OK I’m guessing that it is Avast, not Trusteer that needs fixing, but who knows with this kind of conflict.
