IE 9 32 and 64 bit stops responding

Hello all,

IE 9 32 and 64 bit continues to stop responding shortly after opening web sites.
Listed below is the error message in the event viewer and I’m hoping someone can help me out.

Thanks

After disabling the avast webrep add-on, everything is working normally.

Maybe someone here at Avast should take a look at the dll in question…

Thanks

We would like to, but unfortunately the information you posted doesn’t really say what happened (the error address is a common runtime function called from MANY locations).
Any chance you could get a dump for the crash (if there was a link to a dump in the error message dialog, or maybe in “problem reports”?
Thanks.

Igor there have been a few reported issues ( including mine ) of webrep crashing IE9 when opening multiple tabs, one of the other avast team members ( cant remember who ) recieved a dump and acknowledged there was some wrong code and it would be fixed in the next program update.

Found the topic, pk found the problem http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=100921.msg807301#msg807301

I had the same problem on three computers. I saw the post by pk. I figured it would be fixed on the file you download for the whole program so waited until today and downloaded pro version from avast dot com, he said it would be fixed with the next update but did not want to wait. The problem seems to be fixed now on that computer, the other two are at a different location right now and will do later. So I would suggest you uninstall, run aswclear, I ran ccleaner, reinstall. Worked for me. sly

craigb: I’m aware of that - but that particular problem should already be fixed for a while (via a virus definition update).
Therefore, it might be something else (it’s impossible to say for sure according to the dump information - it’s different, but it could also be because it’s 64bit).

No worries igor, i must say i haven’t had any crashes from webrep for at least a few days here, thats when webrep is actually up working correctly ( mosty it’s grey and there are no icons to search links anymore )
