Avast 6.0.1044 BS always popped up when I start the IE 9.
The “suspicious” file is: “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ieframe.dll” ???
I had to put it on the trusted apps list in BS settings in order to get rid of the pop-up.
So there is no real problem, however I think that this file should not have provoked a pop-up in the first place… Am I the only one with this behaviour? Haven’t found any posts mentioning this particular file. 8) (I know there have been probs before with IE 9 Beta and RC with Avast but they were, AFAIK, something different)
Thx
What BS option you have selected? Auto-decide, ask, block or allow?
I have not seen this BS popup on the rig in my sig yet. I’m running IE 9 RTM and AIS 6.0.1044 110225.0 defs. What does the ieframe.dll properties look like?
See my screen shot below.

Identical, except German instead of English.
I have BS set to ask also and do not see the popup. It must be a language thing? Looks like a fix is needed.

Try to change option to “auto-decide”
Why should I?
My point is: the file should not be rated “suspicious” in the first place.
And what happens if I set to Auto?
It will automatically decide whether file is dangerous or not. When yes, It will be blocked.
BTW I tried to set it to Ask and no pop-up…

oh yeah, that’s the Zyndstoff FP, it’s new 8)
That is not logical at all…
Does that mean, when I set to “Ask”, that Avast BS does no evaluation of it’s own? BS is based on evaluation, or isn’t it?
If BS can Auto-Decide (and it MUST, it is a behaviour shield…), then this should be done always. If this auto-decision leads to “suspicious”, then it should ask/block/allow according to what I have selected.
Seems I don’t really understand how that BS thing works and why there is an “Auto Decide” setting.
Okay, when set to “Auto”, pop-up is not present.
You probably didn’t get a pop-up, because I observed this:
When set to ask, only the first time I opened IE 9 this pop-up showed. It did not occur until the PC was restarted. Then, when opening IE 9 the first time: pop-up - but only this one time.
Thx, Logos.
But funny, that pop-up really was here.

np, glad I could help ;D
… I don’t know, that’s weird… I got mine set on auto-decide so the process you describe has probably been allowed and there’s no way back, even if I set it back to ask I would never get a prompt.
Logos, explain to me: why is there an “Auto Decide” setting?
Shouldn’t that be the core process anyway: to decide automatically.

well it’s just if you don’t trust it; I left it to auto-decide on this install because I think I get issues when it’s set to ask… not sure it’s that, just guessing.
So imagine if the BS makes a mistake… can be a disaster. But every time I set it to ask, I had issues with restore point creations.

You can try to delete all “-.dat” files from “?:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast5” folder in safe mode.
Before I do that, I’ld like to have a little more explanation as why and what does this do to stop the pop-up.
