I use Mozilla Firefox primarily, but need to upload files via FTP for school, and have been completely unsuccessful in doing this. Even tried smart ftp client with no avail. So i want my IE to use for FTP. Thanks for all the help.

What is the problem with IE ?
The more information you can give the better for those trying to help, e.g. error messages, what you tried, what happened, etc.

If it is can’t FTP and you can’t use other FTP tools either then it may be unrelated to IE.

I’m not an AOHell user, so I don’t know if that too might be an issue. Have the school given instructions on how to ftp the files or do they have support pages with FAQs because I doubt that you are the first person to experience problems FTPing files.

Hi CoachP,

From a look at your log, I see you have a worm, a couple of Trojans and some spyware /adware.

I also see that you don’t have an anti-virus installed. Your first step should be to install , update and run a good anti-virus program. How about installing the avast! home version?

Be sure to accept the invitation to run a boot time scan when you install the program.

To take care of the Trojans and spyware, please download, install, update and run these free programs:

a-Squared free:

http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

Ad-Aware:

http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Spybot Search & Destroy:

http://www.safer-networking.org/

I would also recommend a good free firewall, like Zone Alarm. You can find out how to set up the program here:

http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/support/zasc/gettingStarted.jsp?anchor=alerts&lid=zasupp_u

Before you install the firewall, disconnect you internet connection and rescan with all the above programs, then install the firewall. This will make sure that your computer is not reinfected between scans: the Trojans infecting your computer have quite likely brought down Windows firewall, meaning that more malware can be placed on your computer while you are connected to the internet.

Malware sometimes blocks anti-virus and anti-spyware sites, so if you have any problems downloading the programs, you can download them on another computer and burn them to a CD, but be sure to download the latest definitions file for each program too so you can update offline.

Please post a fresh HijackThis! log when you have finished so we can check that your computer is clean.

Good luck!

EDIT: You also need to update your Sun Java application. Download the latest version here and then make sure you uninstall any older versions from Control Panel>Add/Remove:
