IE7 uses more than 68mb (2 active tabs 3 stopped) :o
is this normal? ???
That’s a lot
I don’t know about IE7, but Firefox uses memory in proportion to RAM size available to cache web pages so clicking forward and back is much quicker.
The amount of memory used is not absolute. It may well be more on a 2Gig system than a 256Meg system- and it may well depend on the number of forward and back clicks in each tab.
Close all tabs an see if memory use drops to a ‘normal’ level.
68mb doesn’t seem a lot- Firefox is using 60mb with just one tab open here.
My firefox is using 62MB with 11 tabs open. I have the forward and back page cache turned to a low setting.
I have never worried about programs using RAM, that after all is what it is for and windows manages RAM fairly effectively. Plus I have 1GB of RAM so it has room to grow if required.
Interesting… My uses only 18 MB ATM… ???
I agree with FreewheelinFrank, I think it depends on the amount of RAM installed. I have 1.5 GB of RAM and IE7 is using 62 MB with only one tab.
