IF you're having any problems with 4.7.817, please try this version

All right guys, the update is now officially released, so you can use usual methods (either download from our website, or invoking program update from within the program) to get it.

The version number is 4.7.826.

Thanks
Vlk

Hi guys,

in a couple of days (maybe even tomorrow), we’ll be releasing a new update of avast home/pro that will solve the problems discussed on this forum during the last week.

Anyone who’s having these problems is kindly asked to try out this pre-release version (that is more or less the same as the one that will be released officially).

How to install it:

Any comments are welcome.

Thanks
Vlk

Good. Program Settings… (and avast! Logs) now work fine.
Web Shield also doesn’t generate those errors (in logs) anymore. Looks ok so far.

Another glitch i noticed in some other thread around here…

A small date glitch in commandline interface.

===================================== avast! Antivirus Updater, Version 4.7 Copyright (c) 2004 ALWIL Software =====================================

Working…

Updater failed with error code 0x426 - 0x2

See the copyright date? It’s 2004 and we’re already at 2006. ;D

stmars, so, it behaves about the same as the previous version?
Also, could you please check if the “avast antivirus” service is started? Or if it’s not, if it can be started manually?

Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services.

Thanks
Vlk

Yes, you can. It will repair/update your installed version.

Jean, and what happens if you follow this: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=20842.msg174421#msg174421
I know you’re not at Windows NT but anyway…

Nice!
But avast! is in my Program Files directory now, and I don’t want to reboot only to reinstall it in its previous directory ;D
Maybe when I’ll be less lazy 8)

antivirus is not a simple application… you MUST reboot after installation, otherwise, for sure you’ll get trouble
