<iframe> tag found, it may be dangerous

I’ve had an e-mail message from avast! heuristics saying: “

The printer issue I would say is totally unrelated to the iFrame warning.

the iFrame tag is normally used in web pages to deliver dynamic content, import text, images, adverts, run an application, it is a very powerful tool and not one often found in emails.

When used in emails it could import and run an executable file if you were on-line when you opened it. Because of this potential and the fact avast hasn’t a clue what might be imported into the iFrame the heuristics flags it as suspicious alerting you to possible danger.

Some emails use the iFrame for no other purpose than to deliver adverts, for some reason yahoo groups seems to use iFrames. If the email is from someone you know and it is expected and normal practice, then you could allow the remote location ‘Permitted URLs’ in the Internet Mail, Customize, Heuristics tab, section.

Or you can set the sensitivity to Custom and that allows access to further Customization were you can disable the iFrame check (see image), this I feel may leave you a little vulnerable when permitting a specific remote URL would be better.

Thanks for explaining this. Andy.

No problem, although there is a means of Permitting URLs, it is often difficult for the end user to identify the URL to permit.
