I made a custom scan that scans memory and auto start programs. And it is detecting something that says it is a PUP. What is making avast detect this?. (I just want to know.)
Edit: I don’t want to have to download anything. Maybe avast could be detecting the PUP’s in the virus chest.

nope...this is a protected area (chest) and should be off limit to all scanners, exept avast right click scan of files from inside the chest
when selecting “scan memory” you often get detection of signatures from security programs loaded in memory
and this time (the forum are full of these) it seems to come from avast itselfe ?
anyway, to avoid these confusing detections, do not use “Scan Memory”, i recomend using the default quick/full scan with default settings
Memory scans are somewhat of a throwback from earlier days and I rather doubt anyone wants to remove the ‘feature’ (other AVs also do this up to a point, so they would be handed a bit of PR if it were dropped). As Vlk (I believe) says once it gets into memory it is effectively too late, it is stopping it get in there in the first place that is the real problem.
This however, is only when selecting a custom scan and the ‘scan memory’ option, which is the most thorough/sensitive of the three memory scans available. The Quick and Full System scans both scan memory but not to this degree of sensitivity/thoroughness.
