Hello,
I have a question, I’m farily new at this and I wanted to know if avant! 4 Home will scan my e-mail since I use AOL as my isp and where do I go on this forum to get info on how to completely uninstall Norton AV and I also have Norton Internet Security. Is avast!4 also considered internet security? I really appreciate your help. :slight_smile:

First of all, wellcome 8)

If you search the board for the word AOL you’ll find some answers…
Anyway, I think AOL could bring some troubles to avast if I’m not wrong… avast scans only pop3/smtp email accounts and AOL, if I’m correct, uses it’s own protocol :cry:

avast is only an antivirus (but the best one ;D)
You should have your firewall and any other security application that you want/need (pop up and spam blocker, script blocker, etc.).
To uninstall NAV, search a little the board or, if you want, click on FAQ in my link and browse a little. Enjoy :wink:

Hey brownie23 -

AOL scans in and outbound mail using Mcafee. Its pretty tight.
In addition any attachment you do download (if it got past mcafee) would be scanned by Avast when it hits your Harddrive.

for info - AOL uses smtp and IMAP - however their ports are not standard. If thats a concern and you insist on Avast scanning your email, use AOL’s “open mail access”, which uses the email your client of choice, and standard ports (again smtp and IMAP) ;D
