I'm new to Avast, PLEASE help

Ok I was using Microsoft Security Essentials and it evidently wasn’t doing it’s job so, I installed Avast because my computer got infected from facebook. I ran a full system scan right before bed and when I got to the computer this morning it recommended a Boot-Scan. I done the boot scan and I noticed it deleted some of the stuff but there were others that it didn’t tell me what action was taken. I’m assuming it was quarantined or whatever but I’m not sure if that’s a good thing. I tried finding the list of what Avast found in the scan and I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know where it is located? I have the newest version of Avast since I installed the program last night. Any help or clues at all would be GREATLY appreciated

Check the log and report folders in
C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avast Software\Avast\ (2000, XP)
C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\ (Vista, 7)

Thank you, I found all the text documents, but where can I find it so that I can possibly take my own action and delete some of the ones that were quarantined? Or is that an option in Avast? I know with my old security system it was but not sure about this. I think I have looked all through Avast but maybe I’ve missed it somewhere

  1. There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.

  2. There is no automated option in avast to delete files in the chest after a certain time period, etc. You need to periodically do the check scan above and house keeping after that. Hopefully you shouldn’t be getting so many detections for that to become a chore.

Ok thank you for all your help ;D

No problem, glad I could help.
