Im not able to install new avast free antivirus

Dear Sir,

with refer to the above captioned subject, i am having avast 5.1.889.0 version. I am missing some support file in this version. i am not able to unistall.
im using windows XP. Can u mail me after problem solved.

This is support forums so we can help you here directly.We all over here are avast users trying to help each other with the fact that no antivirus program is 100% in its job because 1000000+ viruses come out everyday.

Can you you tell us the error you get?

Why are you using old version of avast? Latest is version 8!?

Run the uninstaller for any AV’s you used prior to avast from here to remove remanents: http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=117113.0
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
    Go into device manager and show hidden devices. Remove all the non plug and play devices, that are related to avast [they start with asw].
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot
