I'm trying to find the name of a virus that was just blocked

I did a print screen to get the name of a virus that Avast just blocked, but then I did something stupid before I pasted it in Paint. On the statistics page avast indicates that I have one blocked virus but it won’t let me see it. Since it came at the same time as a page I was downloading I assumed, rightly or wrongly, it is coming from that website. When I reloaded the page I expected to see it get blocked again, but that didn’t happen. In any event I want to find the name of it at least so I can decide if I should contact the web master of the page.
Here are four questions;

  1. Once Avast blocks a virus, will it alert me if it blocks the same virus again when I reload the page?
  2. How can I view blocked viruses by date?
  3. How do I set avast to leave it’s alerts “on top” until I dismiss them? Currently they will dismiss themselves automatically after a few seconds.
  4. How do I request email notifications of replies?
    Thanks, Dave
    P.S. There are no emoticons for frustrated, but there is one attached to this topic!

if you have not reboted since the warning … right click avast tray icon and show last popup … click pin in top right corner if you want to pin it to screen

if it say URL.Mal it is not a infection but means URL or IP is on a blacklist and blocked

popup warning time can be adjusted in avast settings…

Good to know about the show last pop up message option and I set the pop up to it’s max time of 180 seconds. Unfortunately Avast updated the definitions before I got to the tray and that was the last pop up. I assume that the pin it is only available when the pop up is for blocked items. Perhaps in the next version Avast can change the option to last blocked item pop up, but I’d still like to see a way to view a log of what’s been blocked. Perhaps the items could be sent to the virus chest automatically, since that log already exists. All of the other pop ups more or less don’t matter to me, so being able to view them has never concerned me. Thanks for the Help. David

  1. Yes
  2. Open the log file(s)
