Immediate assistance requested: wuauclt.exe virus is beating avast

A neighbor inadvertently clicked on a window which has brought the wuauclt.exe virus (may be W32.cult) into his eMachine Windows XP and Avast appears unable to find it and delete in during a full-system scan. Avast was installed and running at the time of infection. This virus uses the System Restore function (which I have now temporary disabled). The virus displays scores of warning signs, crowding the screen and eventually starts IE and displays the site “www.porno.org” which has an unreadable message due to all of the warning signs displayed.

This has to be the most vicious virus I have ever seen as it is completely controlling the desktop.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Please, edit the link to remove the access to that porno site.
Can you schedule a boot time scanning with avast?

Also, read the instructions, download and burn (maybe from another computer), finally use one of this rescue CD’s:

  1. Dr. Web
  2. Avira
  3. BitDefender
  4. Kaspersky
  5. F-Secure
