I never indicated that I wish to use any. I don't use HTML files.no ... evrytime you enter this forum you do
Obviously guys, I was talking about actual HTML files, not web pages using a browser.
If the latter’s what you were referring to, I don’t even understand the question:
whichever browser I use, obviously.
Which brings me back to my original question, why is IE in the Hijack tab?
It is saying that IE using the shell autocommand will open html files
So how did that piece of information make it into the Hijack section, as opposed to all the other autocommands and everything else?
Because that key has been known to be hijacked… It is just saying look at this and ensure you are happy
But I made Chrome the default browser, so shouldn’t it be listed as opening HTML files?
No because it only relates to IE
Actually Chrome is the one that open HTML files as the default web browser, not IE.
Thank you essexboy for your assistance though.
Your default browser doesn’t always determine which browser opens certain items.
It is quite possible and normal for IE to open something even if you have another browser set as your default browser.
Hi bob3160,
This is another reason for everybody out on Windows to keep Windows Blue E fully updated and patched. Allthough it may not be your browser by default, it comes so deeply integrated/embedded into the Microsoft OS that the security of it is immenent and equals general MS OS security.

From a security standpoint, it’s important to keep all your programs updated.
This would include your Operating system.
Although whenever a program opens a web browser, Chrome is the program that’s used.
Like for “Release notes”, etc.
Though in Vista no updates are given for it.
