important infected files are in container.. ?

i scaned my computer with avast! and several files were infected with wurms & viruses. avast recommended to put these files into the container, thats what i did. isnt that a problem to put such files as svchost.exe, svchost32.exe ntrootkit.exe and several .dll files into the container? isn´t there a possibility to repair these files?

when i use the cleaner, do i have to restore these files first before i use the cleaner?

i don´t know if this is connected with the avast, but my soundcart and my onboard lan doesn´t work anymore. when i use winamp, i get an error message: dll ressource not found

can someone help me?

If you see something like the picture below, then your best option is to use the “Completely Remove Virus from the system” button.

You should put all infected files back before running the Virus Cleaner (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_cleaner.html)

Just after you put the infected files back, you must run the Virus Cleaner.

Once your system is clean, make sure that you let avast! create a Virus Recovery Database (VRDB) to help with subsequent infections.

The files that you mention are system files and windows needs them to run. That may be why winamp does not run anymore.

mhmm…i couldn´t open your file. but i cant remove the viruses, avast doesnt give me that option. it recommends to put the file into the container.

btw, isn´t svchost32.exe a virus itself? can i delete this file?

Sorry, my mistake. Yes svchost32.exe is created by a couple of Mimail varients (I and J), Agobot.DQ and Raleka.A.

Your best option is to download the avast virus cleaner (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_cleaner.html) and run it.

It would be helpful if you could tell us what virus you are infected with (for example: in my picture, the virus name is Win32:Netsky-C [Wrm])

however, svchost.exe IS a real windows file, so I don’t recommend deleting that just yet.

The avast virus cleaner is encorporated into avast 4.x Home/Pro and is used if the virus is one that it can clean.

svchost.exe can be a windows file. The location of the file is a good indication to see if it is the legitimate one or not.

it´s just strange, cause avast says it cant repair the files. i mean, is it a problem if these files are in the container?

some of the files who are infectet are:

file virus

svchost.exe win32:rpcexploit
svchost(1).exe win32:rpcexploit

why i got 3 svchost files and 4 ntrootkit.exe files?? :frowning:

Generally trojans can’t be repaired as the contents of the file are wholely malicious, unlike an infected file an exe or dll say, it may be possible to remove the infected part.

Remove the infected part of a trojan, effectively means delete the file or for safety move it to the chest (giving time to investigate, delete or restore as appropriate.

As for your soundcard and onboard lan problem, try re-installing the drivers for both. That should sort that problem out.
