After a few days of good work, AVAST! blocked all my connections to internet. Is it impossible to use the net or update system until AVAST! is running. I’m obliged to stop all AVAST proctection to navigate on the net. Why? Is it possible to solve the problem? Do I ask to have back my money? Thank you.
avast doesn’t block, it scans and alerts to infection, but it doesn’t block, unless you have the AIS (avast Internet Security) version, then avast doesn’t have a firewall, so doesn’t block.
If there is an apparent blocking then there is something else going on and this is most often avast’s web shield being blocked.
What avast version are you using 4.8 or 5.0 (free/pro or suite) ?
For avast 4.8 - What is your firewall ?
Does it allow ashWebSv.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.
For avast 5.0 (Not AIS version) - What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and do a manual update and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.
Thank you!
I’ve got Avast 5.0 Pro edition. I used Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit for netbook, and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit for desktop. I never change the original firewall settings before connection problems. I actually tried to change settings after internet connection was prevented… without success. Only disabling all ten AVAST protections, is possible use the NET. Even the google homepage is accessible while running AVAST: Google Chrome and Internet Explorer continue to search for addresses and after several minutes finally give an error (the web page is not available). I understand that this is a strange problem, but I can not find any solution; I even reinstalled Windows… but nothing has changed. Any other ideas?
First the only Shield you should need to stop is the Web Shield as that is the only one which would be filtering the web traffic to scan http port 80 traffic.
I don’t know if you have the outbound protection enabled in your firewall (I don’t use win7), if you do you need to ensure that avastSvc.exe is allowed Internet access as I mentioned before, once you do that try and reconnect.
Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
