In A pickle After Fall Back To 7.0.1474.0.

Was running 7.0.1474.0, decided to install 8.0.1482.0, turned out to be a bad decision. Un-installed 8.0.1482.0 and re-installed 7.0.1474.0. Now I can’t get registered. I click the “Register Now” button, select the “Base Protection” option, the registration panel appears, I fill in name etc. and click register using email and Avast just freezes. Any help would be appreciated before my “30 Days” expires. W7-Pro 64, Lenovo T500 Laptop.

Try rebooting then re-attempt the registration.

Also did you use the removal tool to delete remnants of V8 before re-installing V7, best to use the tool when upgrading to the newer version as well.

I had same issue… the avast cleanup tool and eusing free registry cleaner solved problem (regular mode). Trying to register in safe mode gave the *.rpc error

As Anna Anna Roseanna Dana would say “nevermind”. I rebooted, then did a virus library update and retried the registration, all is well. Thanks for your replies.

Glad it worked  rebooting can work wonders sometimes.
