I ran a normal system scan, it picked up some files as dangerous, I chucked them in the vault without particularly checking what they were (foolish I know). Avast asked to restart my laptop, and now every time windows won’t start, not even in safe mode, I just get a blank screen with the mouse arrow. I suspect I have locked up a fairly key file that was vital, but I cant get into the laptop/windows to unlock it.
The only screen I apear tobe able to get to is system recovery options. A system restore wont help, nor will startup repair. My last thought before a complete system rebot (which I’m not entirely sure I’ll be able to do with access as it is) is to try uninstalling avast via comand prompt in the hope that will unlock said file(s)? If anyone can help me with such a task or has any other advice I thank you kindly!
Im not brilliant with computers but should be able to follow instructions if not too technical. I run windows 7 and uptodate avast.
Appears as if your request for help got overlooked somehow or other. Going directly to get help from a certified malware removal specialist. Expect him to step in here in a few hours or so…
Normally avast! will not quarantine a necessary Windows file, are you able to boot into Safe Mode? If not, please say what the last file loaded in Safe Mode is… been having a rash of aswrvrt.sys lockups here lately.
Insert the USB into the sick computer and start the computer. First ensuring that the system is set to boot from USB
Note: If you are not sure how to do that follow the instructions Here
When you reboot you will see this. Click repair my computer
