We read almost daily what worms can do in the hands of hackers. For instance through using Phatbot hackers could get to all sort of data from the makers of Half-life. Interesting to know for the malware fighters among us how this worms are to be canned, because a “nice” Phatbot (upgraded MIRC version of Agobot) infection can keep one busy for a consequent three hours to rid your OS from it’s trails and slime.
So go to this link: http://www.joestewart.org/index.html to refresh your worm intelligence.
Yes very interesting to know, but whilst I don’t use IRC applications, I certainly wouldn’t spend three hours trying to rid myself of the entrails of a serious infection. I would reach for the Boot CD of my Drive Image software, reboot and restore my last drive image back-up (I do a weekly image), duration less than 15 minutes total. Once my image is restored I restore my last daily data back-up, duration less than a minute.
A back-up and recovery strategy will save you serious time, effort and stress and it isn’t just malware infection that can ruin your day.
