Unfortunately it is not making my sound recording software’s happy campers. Thus I need to be able to disable it on my xp session on which I record. How can I make it that on that profile (session) it doesn’t load up, but it does on the others?
I’m not sure exactly how to relay it, but here it goes.
I’m using Pro tools 7.4
I’ve troubleshooted with reinstalling my programs, reinstalling my plugins, reinstalling my audio interfaces. To no avail
In the program while recording or play back at one point or an other my sound just becomes completely distorted then it comes back to normal and then again to distortion. Now usually this would happen if the CPU is overloading, but the program is set to limit to a usage of 85% of my CPU. And my System usage indicator shows that I am not even near to CPU overload.
Doing some research I’ve seen that other users of pro tools had that problem and it stopped after uninstalling Avast. Now obviously I love the AV and don’t want to uninstall it. But if there is no solutions I will have no choice to. One of my solution, and I guess the simplest one, is to be able to have control over it on which profile the program automatically starts or starts up manually at my discretion.
Waiting on an update that would solve that is not really something I can do at the moment since, recording mixing and producing is my work. Good thing I noticed this on one on my personal sessions and I was able to reschedule my clients. But I’m getting pressed by time to get this fixed.
Good that you have let us know this. I will surely ask someone from avast! to take a look at this. Just try not access the internet while avast is disabled. Just right click on avast! system tray > avast! shield controls > disable according to your need. Make sure it is enabled again before you connect your pc to internet. Let me know what happened.
Try using this DPC Latency checker. This is all the help I can be on this. Hopefully it will lead to a solution.
I can tell you that if I do disable my wireless network adapter there is nothing I can do to cause the latency to go into the yellow or the red. It stays green.

Read through the manual to help in troubleshooting.

You can’t get pro tools for free. The newest version of Pro Tools (which is not what I have) enables you to just run the program with what ever asio compatible card you have. That program is 500$
Then add an other 400$ for Guitar rig 4 pro that I have, and an other 500$ for the plugins bundles.
Did you test that with Pro Tools? Cause as you can see even with my wireless disabled it still does it.
I have done no tests. I am just an Avast user. I just used it to tinker around a bit on my computer. I do not have Pro Tools.
I don’t know how to properly identify what may be happening. I just pointed you to the DPC Latency Checker and the user manual in hopes that it may be helpful to you. In my previous post I stated that “This is all the help I can be on this” because I have no clue on how to isolate the problem. It’s unfortunate that the checker doesn’t actually narrow anything down and just gives generic instructions.
inter-phase to the impulse of different sound frequency
it is also use to monitor which sound frequency consume a large or small amount of energy and which frequency create a large amount of energy to the air. it is an experiment which sound frequency excite the people most.(energy in the air)
solving latency in sound system device is just like solving 1 divide by zero.
the pro tools is very sensitive in the following:
power supply - make sure that input power do not have any disturbance (regulated power) :-[
frequency - all cable to be use must be aluminum jacketed and rubberized in the input and output connection :-[
and avast have file system shield that monitor the outgoing-incoming file, the record and the modulation of sound is consider a files, scanning file create disturbance and distortion to your sound system. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
maybe avast made software just for you only. to protect your software from corruption and do not disturb your system modulation :-[ :-[ :-[
and I’m using the Ethernet port to connect the C|24 to the computer which is the only options I know of to plug it. At this point though I have no choice to uninstall avast on my workstation so I can complete my contracts Hopefully we’ll find a solution and I’ll be able to reinstall it.

P2P Shield can give you high CPU usage using this connection, while you do recording P2P scan the record files.
I can tell you only a minor set-up. if willing to try and observe if effective
try set-up your P2P shield
Double click avast ball > Real Time Shield > go down p2p shield > click expert setting > Program
Unchecked the following: Direct Connect, Direct Connect++ and all you see that have DC++ at the End, and if you see pro tools there unchecked that.
Then go down to Report file.
Unchecked the Generate Report File( this one can give Dis-torsion in recording )
then try do some recording.
in your workstation it must be smooth no disturbance will be made. and Resident Protection is The 1 that create disturbance.
