Incorrect IP/machine type/name issues

Good morning,

We have the avast for ed product via the business.avast.com login. I get repeated issues with ad domain machines (Win7) showing up as Mac machines. I had one this morning that was a new install on a Win 7 laptop. Shows as Mac in the Avast portal. When I looked up the IP address on our DHCP server the IP is actually an iPhone and not even a computer.

On several occasions when this has occurred I went as far as to log onto the avast console from the DHCP server to make sure that up to date data was available (per an early on call with Avast support) and nothing changed.

Is there anyway to force the portal to update its information? Otherwise the system itself, other than having AV on our workstation, is pretty much worthless.

Thanks in advance.

Scott

I’m having similar issues. Clients in the console, show up with 169.254.x.x ip addresses, incorrect or old dns suffixes. Looks like the host name is dynamic, changes when the host name of the device changes but the dns suffix and ip addresses are not refreshed since the time AVAST was installed. Would be nice if it refreshed once in a while or there was an option we could use as a task that would refresh device information on demand.

You can restart the communication service, or restart the computer to force the agent to checkin to the cloud console. I have seen sometimes that it will show the agent as reinstalled and show the new Hostname details.
